What is the kentucky body armor grant?

The Kentucky Body Armor Grant Program provides funding to help law enforcement agencies equip officers with modern, compliant body armor. Established in response to expired body armor affecting nearly half of Kentucky officers, the program provides eligible agencies with 100% state-funded coverage to replace outdated armor and support underfunded departments in acquiring NIJ-compliant protective equipment. Applications for soft body armor receive priority, and agencies must maintain a mandatory body armor wear policy to qualify. Approximately $15 million in funding is available to eligible Kentucky law enforcement agencies.
