The FY2026 Texas Vehicle Armor Grant — authorized under Texas House Bill 2217—is now open for applications. This state-funded program provides $5 million in available funding to help law enforcement agencies across Texas equip patrol and service vehicles with bullet-resistant components that meet or exceed NIJ Level IIIA protection.

The initiative aims to enhance officer safety statewide by supporting agencies in acquiring ballistic door panels, windshields, and windows designed to protect peace officers in the line of duty.

Applications are due by November 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM CST.

Grant Overview

The Texas Vehicle Armor Grant is available to:

  • State agencies, counties, municipalities, and educational institutions operating law enforcement agencies
  • Departments employing peace officers under Article 2A.001 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure

Eligible projects may include bullet-resistant components such as vehicle door panels, windshields, and windows, tested to NIJ Level protection or higher protection.
