What is the texas sb 12 grant?

The $25 million Texas SB 12 Grant is specifically allocated for providing rifle-resistant body armor to Law Enforcement Officers across the state. Initiated in response to incidents like the 2016 Dallas police shooting, the grant aims to enhance the safety of Officers by equipping Officers with body armor that meets the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standards for protection against rifle threats. This includes NIJ Standard-0101.06 for type III (rifles) and type IV (armor-piercing rifle) body armor. The funding is available to eligible Law Enforcement agencies, which must comply with several requirements, including proper fitting of vests to individual officers and adherence to specified reporting standard.
