What is the texas sb 12 grant?

The Texas SB 12 Grant is specifically allocated to provide rifle-resistant body armor to Law Enforcement Officers across the state. Initiated in response to incidents such as the 2016 Dallas police shooting, the grant aims to enhance officer safety by equipping agencies with body armor that meets National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standards for protection against rifle threats. Eligible equipment includes body armor certified to NIJ Standard 0101.06, including Type III (rifle) and Type IV (armor-piercing rifle) protection. $3 million in expected funds are available to qualifying Texas Law Enforcement agencies, which must meet several requirements, including proper vest fitting for individual officers and compliance with all specified reporting standards.
