The State of Texas is providing rifle-rated body armor to law enforcement officers through the Senate Bill 12 (SB 12) Rifle Protection Grant. This program is designed to enhance officer safety by ensuring agencies have access to body armor that meets National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standards for rifle threats.

The Texas SB 12 Grant helps law enforcement agencies across Texas obtain rifle-rated body armor for their officers. The program is intended to improve officer safety by supporting armor that meets National Institute of Justice (NIJ) standards for rifle protection.
To qualify, agencies must:
Ensure officers are properly fitted for their body armor
Complete all required program reporting
