The Limitations of Traditional Plate Carriers
Traditional plate carriers are widely used because they are lightweight, relatively low profile and easy to move in. But that reduced footprint can also mean less coverage and fewer options when additional protection is needed.
Full coverage tactical vest systems provide more coverage, but they can also add weight and bulk.
The RISE® Plate Carrier was designed to bridge that gap. It provides expanded coverage around the operator's core while maintaining the fit, mobility and flexibility expected from a modern tactical carrier.
The DefendCore™ Belt System
A key part of the RISE® Plate Carrier is the DefendCore™ Belt System.
DefendCore™ uses a modular overlapping armor design to provide 360° front-to-back armor coverage around the operator's core without significantly increasing bulk or restricting movement. The system adds coverage around the sides of the torso while keeping the overall carrier profile streamlined. A canted rear belt design elevates the back rifle plate toward the upper back, helping extend coverage toward the trap line for enhanced protection. Side rifle plates can also be added when the mission requires additional protection.
Operators can choose between an armored DefendCore™ Belt System or a non-armored belt depending on the level of coverage and configuration they need.
Built for Different Mission Requirements
Tactical teams do not always run the same loadout, so the RISE® Plate Carrier was designed to be configurable.
Its low profile laser cut PALS/MOLLE platform gives operators space to add mission specific equipment and accessories. Mission Flap Placard compatibility allows loadouts to be changed as requirements shift, while concealed routing points help manage cables, hydration and communications equipment without leaving everything exposed across the outside of the carrier.
The RISE® Plate Carrier is compatible with Truth SNAP® 308 Elite front, back and side Rifle Plates in both Stand-Alone and In-Conjunction-With (ICW) configurations. The DefendCore™ Belt System is compatible with RISE® NIJ Level IIIA Elite and NIJ Level II Premium 2.0 Armor Packages.
It also integrates with Ally One® Carrier Accessories and select Armor Attachments, including neck and upper shoulder, bicep, lower abdomen and groin attachments, along with Mission Flap Placards, pouches, ID placards and the MOLLE Bridge.
Designed for Comfort During Extended Operations
A tactical carrier has to work for more than the first few minutes of an operation. Fit, weight distribution and comfort become increasingly important during longer periods of wear.
The RISE® Plate Carrier uses FirstSpear® Tubes technology for rapid donning and doffing and includes an adjustable fit architecture so the carrier can be fitted to the individual operator. A magnetic drag handle is also built into the carrier for emergency extraction.
Integrated stretch within the DefendCore™ Belt System helps transfer load from the shoulders to the torso, reducing pressure during extended wear. Ally One® Integrated Shoulder Pads improve comfort during extended wear, while front and back Ally One® Air Panels help improve airflow.
Every RISE® Plate Carrier includes an Ally One® Mission Flap Placard, Ally One® Integrated Shoulder Pads and front and back Ally One® Air Panels as standard.
Configurations, Sizes and Colors
The RISE® Plate Carrier is available in both Shooter's Cut and SAPI Cut configurations.
Six plate size and cut combinations are available, ranging from 9" x 11" through 11" x 14", giving tactical teams options based on armor requirements and individual operator fit.
The carrier is available in seven colors: Black, Dark Navy, Green 483, Tan 499, Ranger Green, Wolf Gray and MultiCam®.
Operators can also choose between the armored DefendCore™ Belt System and a non armored belt configuration.

Does a plate carrier provide full protection on its own?
No. A plate carrier is the platform that holds the armor. The protection provided depends on the armor package and rifle plates installed within the system.
